Richmond Lee's Ribbon Cutting

More than twenty years ago, the only grocery store in Richmond, Utah closed its doors, forcing residents of Richmond and surrounding towns to drive to Smithfield to get groceries. Shari Badger, owner and founder of Lee’s Marketplace, reflected on this time.

“People would come into our Smithfield store and say, ‘You need to build a store in Richmond because it’s too far for us to drive from Richmond to Smithfield.’” she shared. These same people had to make the journey for twenty years until now.

On June 21st, the Richmond Lee’s Marketplace opened its doors officially to the public, and what a fantastic day it was.

The opening of the Richmond location was commemorated with a ribbon cutting, speeches from Shari Badger, Jonathan Badger (President and CEO of Lee’s Marketplace), Tucker Thatcher of Richmond City, the Chamber of Commerce, and David Rice- CEO of Associated Food Stores. Guests were welcomed into the new store with samples of fresh food and Lee’s signature items. To hear the speeches and watch the ribbon cutting video, check out this link: Richmond Ribbon Cutting

At the new location, guests will find scratch baked goods, legendary donuts, ready-made meals, fresh produce, quality meat, and a hometown pharmacy. The store also boasts an upstairs Richmond Café for in-store dining, and gourmet popcorn from The Popcorn Shop.

We’re grateful to all those who made this day and this store possible, and we couldn’t be more excited to be in the Richmond community. Our team is ready and happy to serve, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
